Here are a list of medical services Woodland Family Practice offers.
In-office visits
Virtual visits
Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are offering both video and telephone visits to limit the amount of time you are in the office. However, virtual visits do not replace in-person visits and therefore, we will often ask you to come in for physical examination or management if needed.
Primary prevention
Your family physician will identify risk factors for chronic disease and work with you to modify and lower risk.
Complex care and chronic disease management
Your family physician is equipped to monitor and management your chronic illnesses and work as a team with specialists involved in your care.
Mental health management
Your mental health and well-being is important. Under MSP, you are allowed 8 counselling appointments with your family physician. A few of the physicians here at Woodland are also able to offer cognitive behavioural therapy.
Maternity care
All physicians at Woodland will provide prenatal care. Dr. Michelle Yuen and Dr. Andrea Thamboo have hospital delivery privileges at BC Women’s Hospital and Surrey Memorial Hospital respectively.
IUD insertions
Dr. Andrea Thamboo, Dr. Janice Wong and Dr. Michelle Yuen are able to perform IUD insertions. There are hormone-based and copper intrauterine devices. Please make an appointment to speak to your family physician to discuss your contraceptive options.
Routine vaccinations
At Woodland, the BC immunization schedule is followed. Additional vaccines will be recommended to at risk populations.
Common surgical procedures
At Woodland Family Practice, we offer a variety of procedures including the following:
– suturing lacerations

Home visits
The physicians at Woodland Family Practice make home visits when necessary for patients who are unable to attend visits in the office and require medical care at their bedside.
Senior home visits
For some residents in assisted living, the most responsible physician remains to be the family physician and if so, your family physician will make regular visits to the senior home.
Palliative care
End of life comfort care is important for the terminally ill.
WorkSafe BC services
When there is a work-related injury of illness, your family physician will assist in the WCB claim and assist with regular assessments, treatment and rehabilitation.
ICBC services
Your family physician will help you document and navigate your claim for motor-vehicle accident related injuries and illness.
Even if a BC resident is insured under the Medical Services Plan (MSP) and/or other extended health benefit plans, not all services provided by a doctor are covered. These services are considered not medically required and are billed directly to the patient. At Woodland Family Practice our fees are based on the recommendation of Doctors of BC.
