Here are a list of medical services Woodland Family Practice offers.
MSP-insured services
In-office visits
From newborn care to elderly care, Woodland offers essential in-office visits
Virtual visits
Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are offering both video and telephone visits to limit the amount of time you are in the office. However, virtual visits do not replace in-person visits and therefore, we will often ask you to come in for physical examination or management if needed.
Primary prevention
Your family physician will identify risk factors for chronic disease and work with you to modify and lower risk.
Complex care and chronic disease management
Your family physician is equipped to monitor and management your chronic illnesses and work as a team with specialists involved in your care.
Mental health management
Your mental health and well-being is important. Under MSP, you are allowed 8 counselling appointments with your family physician. A few of the physicians here at Woodland are also able to offer cognitive behavioural therapy.
Maternity care
All physicians at Woodland will provide prenatal care. Dr. Michelle Yuen and Dr. Andrea Thamboo have hospital delivery privileges at BC Women’s Hospital and Surrey Memorial Hospital respectively.
IUD insertions
Dr. Andrea Thamboo, Dr. Janice Wong and Dr. Michelle Yuen are able to perform IUD insertions. There are hormone-based and copper intrauterine devices. Please make an appointment to speak to your family physician to discuss your contraceptive options.
Routine vaccinations
At Woodland, the BC immunization schedule is followed. Additional vaccines will be recommended to at risk populations.
Common surgical procedures
At Woodland Family Practice, we offer a variety of procedures including the following:
– suturing lacerations
– excisional biopsies of tumours, localized skin cancers, scars, cysts and other skin lesions
– cryotherapy for viral warts, pre-cancerous skin lesions and other skin lesions
– paronychia management
– removal of nail or wedge excisions
– excision of thrombotic hemorrhoids
– incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
Home visits
The physicians at Woodland Family Practice make home visits when necessary for patients who are unable to attend visits in the office and require medical care at their bedside.
Senior home visits
For some residents in assisted living, the most responsible physician remains to be the family physician and if so, your family physician will make regular visits to the senior home.
Palliative care
End of life comfort care is important for the terminally ill.
WorkSafe BC services
When there is a work-related injury of illness, your family physician will assist in the WCB claim and assist with regular assessments, treatment and rehabilitation.
ICBC services
Your family physician will help you document and navigate your claim for motor-vehicle accident related injuries and illness.

Letters and notes
$20 – $40
Letters and sick notes are often prepared by your physician after the allotted visit and is not a MSP-insured service.
Driver’s medical examinations and forms
$238
A driver’s medical examination may be partially covered by MSP in some circumstances. However, there will likely still be a fee. Be prepared for this visit by bringing any corrective lenses with you as there will be a visual acuity and visual field examination. Your blood pressure will also be assessed during this visit.
Insurance examination, report and form
$173 – $227
Insurance examination is often a complete physical assessment so please come prepared for this visit.
Insurance reports and forms require a thoughtful medical chart review by your physician and medical records are carefully prepared by administrative staff.
Transfer of patient medical records

An administrative fee will apply to a transfer of records from one physician to another physician. Photocopying and shipping fees may be charged in addition to the simple transfer fee.
Physical Fitness examination for school, camp & activities

As assessment for fitness often entails a complete physical examination. Please come prepared for this visit.
Occupational Fitness Assessment Form

An OFA often includes physical or mental status examination, a discussion between you and your physician about your illness management plan and a return-to-work plan. The form is then often completed by your physician after clinic hours and there will be additional administrative work. The non-insured fee will reflect this work.
Drug or medical equipment benefit form for 3rd-party Insurer

These benefit forms are often completed by your physician after clinic hours and is not a MSP-insured service.
Medical advice by letter

Such a letter is not a MSP-insured service.
Medical-legal letter or report

A medical-legal letter or report often entails extensive review of your medical record by your physician and a careful response to the requests outline by your legal team.
Cosmetic removal of benign skin lesions
$50 – $200
Excision or cryotherapy for a benign skin tag, nevus, seborrheic keratoses, and other lesion for cosmesis is not a MSP-insured service.
Private-pay visit for patient without MSP
$150 – $300
Patients without MSP coverage will be charged a private fee for services provided.
